I will be the first to say that I am completely left brained and have no creativity in me at all. So poetry usually goes right over my head. However, the late Shel Silverstein’s Where the Sidewalk Ends in hardcover at $ 18.99 is a great introduction to poetry for children. Using humor and everyday life, Silverstein creates poems that even folks like me can understand. Speaking of Silverstein, everyone should have a copy of The Giving Tree in hardcover at $16.99 as the perfect allegory for sharing. And let’s not forget Dr. Seuss’s title Oh the Places You’ll Go in hardcover at $17.99 that can be read at the end of any school year, but makes a great graduation present too.
